Catch Up at Hipchips

Soho has a lot of hot spots for foodies like me and vegans can grab some great bites to eat here without too much effort. I don’t always want to go to an expensive restaurant just to have some good eats and a catch up with my friends. I like to have something fun and casual to share, that won’t break the bank AND you can eat them in your hottest sweatpants.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have found the place for you to do you as always, Piglet’s got your back! Where is this place you ask? Hipchips, situated down Old Compton Street, slap bang in the middle of Soho, this trendy crisp and dip joint, is the perfect place for everything mentioned above and you can choose from so many dips here, sweet or savoury, your choice. Yep, the bottom line is you can do what you want with these crisps, but double dipping, of course, is a hard NO!

I wanted to experience everything vegan they had on the menu, so naturally, I went for the biggest box that they had with 6 dips, 2 sweet and 4 savoury and I cannot lie I savoured every single crunch in my mouth with each and every dip. My favourite is the veggie ceviche which was absolutely delicious, with tomato, lime, coriander, red onion and a great dose of chilli.

This wasn’t the only party in my mouth though, those of you who are regulars to my love of food rants will know baba ghanoush is one of my favourite things in life, so this was an easy pick, however, the lure of beetroot and lemongrass marmalade was too much not to add to my box, also. Yes, you’re eyes are not deceiving you beetroot and lemongrass, what a blinding combination.

As for cinnamon and sugar coated crisps dipped in chocolate, well, I just want you to close your eyes and imagine this. Chocolate sauce and crisps sound so naughty, but my oh my it is so nice!

I am convinced there will be a box size and dip combination for everyone and I think this is the perfect place to go and enjoy a multicoloured array of crisps with some ingenious dipping sauces. The fact that this restaurant has taken such a humble products – the wonderful potato and turned it into something dreams are made of, makes me smile, it also made me grin to see that they stock Karma Cola which of course if you have seen my previous blog about them, you will know I am a big fan of. They also stock vegan and gluten-free beers here, so there is no reason why you can’t go with all your friends. Don’t worry – you can thank me later!
