As soon as I saw that Lupita had options for vegans I was so excited to try their food. I haven’t found many places that do good vegan Mexican food, which meant I was pretty open in terms of expectations.
To start with we share the guacamole which is made at your table, with perfectly ripe avocados and all the other good stuff you would expect to find in a good guac, with plenty of lime juice, served with a mountain of tortilla chips!
This was a great start to the meal, especially when paired with some delicious cocktails. We had strawberry mojitos and Ludwika Paleta, which is a vodka-based cocktail with strawberry puree, apple juice, elderflower cordial and lime juice. These were great drinks and the lively atmosphere in this restaurant really is what you would expect for a good Saturday night meal, so they went hand in hand, with the amount of laughter that filled this restaurant.
For mains, we had the vegan Gringa, three tortillas topped with vegan melted cheese and Seitan, pineapple, coriander and onions, with this dish you can choose a side so we opted for the avocado salad which comes with a delicious mango dressing.
We also opted for the Roasted Vegetable Tostado, which is refried beans, seasonal vegetables, vegan chipotle mayonnaise and cheese and fresh coriander. This also came with a side and it was only right that Mexican rice is tasted.
Everything was tasty, the seitan on the Gringa was really nice and the avocado salad nice and refreshing in between mouthfuls. The Mexican rice was very moreish and made a great addition the table.I really liked the fact that the tostada, had so much flavour and the vegan chipotle mayo was a success.
A few more cocktails (and some water), to wash it all down with and the night had been a very happy and memorable one, the atmosphere in the restaurant got better and better as the night went on.
The night did not end their though, as we were destined to try the tequila, with the friendly waiter suggesting we try the Añejo Patrón, and he was not wrong, this was a great choice of tequila to finish the night on.
This is the perfect place to come with anyone you want to have a laugh with, whilst eating great food, the vegan options are great and the tequila will be sure to brighten up your evening. Will be looking to go back with the girls for a nice catch up before Xmas as this is a wonderful setting for a gathering Would highly suggest you book in advance as it does get super busy at the weekends.
