Cycling The City Of Amsterdam

When it comes to travelling through Amsterdam you have a few options, the most expensive being cabs, then trams and buses and of course, the wonderful bicycle!

Being on a bike gives you such an advantage, it means you don’t have to wait for anyone else, it means you can be free and discover as you cycle or get wonderfully lost like me, and just sit back and enjoy the view. The city is designed for cyclists with the majority of the city have designated cycle lanes it really is not difficult to feel at home on a push bike in Amsterdam.

Finding the right bike is very important too. You are going to want to find one that is very comfortable for you as you can ride for long and of course, no one wants to be in pain on holiday. It is really important that you get this right, which is why the RentABike that I used, ensured that I was comfortable at the beginning of the trip. I explained that I have a bad back and that I also have very short legs and was given a bike that worked so well for me.

The bikes come with a basket on the front that has elastic straps to secure your belongings, I kept my bag in the front basket the entire trip and it was absolutely fine, it was great for when I have food shopping to take back to the campsite as well and is much better than having the weight on your back.
You can rent a bike directly from Camping Zeeburg should you be staying there or they have a store with over 500 bikes just off of Dam Square. They do have tandems available also should you wish to attempt this! Either way, you’re going to have a great time just make sure you grab a map (or 2), to take with you as you will need these!

I would highly recommend this company as their staff are so friendly and know what they are talking about. Cycling may seem like a daunting way to travel but I assure you it is perfectly safe and really is the best way to see everything this beautiful place has to offer!
