I love cheese. Vegan cheese of course but have struggled at times to find the range of cheeses that non-vegans have on offer. Recently I have been eating my way through some delicious ‘chease’ by Tyne Cheases and these guys are in a league of their own when it comes to making delicious flavour sensations.
For me, my favourite has to be the Ethiopian Spiced Chease, it has such a lovely warmth of flavour from the topping that is made fromĀ cumin, coriander, fenugreek, pepper, ginger, thyme, cloves, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, allspice, paired with the beautiful richness of the cheese itself. This works so well just on its own on a cheese board, with crackers, or as a toastie.
Though I would recommend if you are wanting the best toastie you’ll ever have to opt for their Smoked Chease. The amount of flavour in this cheese is incredible just like it’s Ethiopian cousin it has been made so well and the smokiness really makes a great sandwich filler, though again this could easily hold it own on a cheese board.
The Garlic Chease, is completely different, as a garlic lover, this was right up my street and I paired this with some onion chutney and had it as a mini ploughman’s, but if you wanted to make a larger version, this stuff really packs some flavour. The texture is great too.
Finally, I tried their Creamed Chive Chease, which is insanely delicious, I had this on a bagel with cucumber and in sandwiches by itself, it is so nice. The chives really come through with this dish and make any snack a delectable one!
